Liverpool wonderboy Billy Koumetio scores from own half with incredible strike

Liverpool fans are getting very excited over youngster Billy Koumetio – and he's netted from inside his own half against PSG's U21 side.

Koumetio spotted the PSG shot-stopper off his line, and he took the decision to have a pop. The ball sailed up and over the young keeper – sending Liverpool fans into raptures online over the defender's potential.

"Man's out there ruining that keeper's career before it’s even begun," one fan joked. While another added: "Oh my days! Can he play in midfield? Asking for a friend…"

Koumetio's boss Barry Lewtas said: "It was unbelievable! It was good technique, first of all, the way he received the ball and then he spotted their goalkeeper off his line and he’s put it away. Pretty amazing really."

It was Koumetio's first game for Liverpool after his loan spell with Austrian side Austria Vienna was cut short midway through the campaign. And he was deployed at centre-back alongside Jarell Quansah.

Lewtas added: "He actually did say he meant it!" And to be fair, the way he shaped up, he meant it! I am not going to argue with him and he could have had a hat-trick as well!"

Koumetio's evening wasn't over after his wonder strike – and he bagged a brace when he nodded home from a set piece in the second half.

When asked why his loan was cut short, Lewtas added: "There was no real [negative] reason around the decision to bring him back.

"He had a successful loan out there in terms of the exposure he got and obviously there might be opportunities elsewhere for others in the squad to go on loan. The loans are quite fluid really."
