Darren Till has been forced to withdraw from his middleweight clash with Marvin Vettori after suffering a broken collarbone just 11 days out from his return to action. The pair were set to meet in the octagon on April 10 in Nevada but the Italian has now been left furious as his bad luck with opponents pulling out continues, although Kevin Holland is now being eyed to replace Till.
The Gorilla has now released a statement confirming the devastating news, venting his frustration at the freak injury sustained while “drilling”.
“I’ve been sat here for a good few hours debating how to say this and put into words what I’m feeling,” he said on social media.
“I’m just going to say it straight… I’VE BROKEN MY COLLARBONE!
“I’m out my fight next week against Marvin. Every person who is around me or who has been around me knows I train on a daily basis with f***** up knees, lower back, shoulders, hands and the list goes on.
“Yesterday while drilling I fell and straight away I knew I’d broken something.
“To say I’m f****** destroyed by it is an understatement.
“I’ve literally put my heart, soul, mind, physical body, cash, nutrition, sleep, recover and then some into making sure I went out there next week and took his head off. And I 100 per cent sure I was going to with ease!!!
“I’m sure he was thinking the same thing but ah well… I am sorry @marvinvettori I hope you get a new opponent and we can do it sometime soon in the future, I respect you highly as a competitor.”
Whispers emerged that the bout could be off around 30 minutes before Till confirmed he would not be fighting.
The Italian hit out at his opponent in a foul-mouthed tweet that showed just how frustrated he was with the news, less than two weeks away from fight night.
Vettori tweeted: “Always do my part 100% and these bunch of p****** can’t make it.
“Im next in line for the title, whoever has something to say show the f*** up in 2 weeks so I can whoop your ass and shut you off for good.”
Thankfully for Vettori, reports claim Holland is now being lined up to replace him.
The Trailblazer, who is nicknamed ‘Big Mouth’ by Dana White has already claimed he will be stepping in for Till.
Holland tweeted, replying to Vettori: “I already accepted the fight an hour ago….. #callbigmouth”
