The sublime finish – which came on the striker’s return after missing three games through injury – was Welbeck’s first goal of the season.

Welbeck made his move to the Amex in 2020 after a short spell at Watford. The striker had previously spent five years at Arsenal after choosing to leave his boyhood club Man United due to a lack of game time.

The Brighton frontman will now hope to continue his scoring run in the second-half of the season.

The Seagulls come up against Premier League strugglers Leicester next, before they host Bournemouth.
