Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has admitted he was thankful to have Eden Hazard at his disposal as the winger made a significant impact off the bench to help his side see off Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The Italian said before the game he would only risk Hazard – who is still nursing an irritable back problem – if it was necessary with the Belgium star not yet capable of playing the full 90 minutes.
Sarri opted to introduce Hazard 10 minutes after Andros Townsend’s well-taken equaliser and he had an immediate impact by setting up Alvaro Morata for his second of the afternoon.
