Nick Kyrgios hammers Boris Becker over time in jail as tennis feud erupts again

Nick Kyrgios’ bitter feud with disgraced tennis legend Boris Becker has erupted again.

The pair have taken shots at each other since 2020, when Becker called Kyrgios a “rat” over his comments about fellow tennis star Alex Zverev. Kyrgios, 28, then called the German a “doughnut” among other jibes, before his 56-year-old adversary questioned whether he had been telling the truth about the knee injury that ruined his 2023 Australian Open.

But the Australian bad boy hit back again recently by stating Becker and other former tennis greats would not have cut it in the modern game. Kyrgios highlighted the difference in the pace of the game was and called any comparisons “absurd”.

Becker has since returned serve by saying: “It’s simple, you have to respect the past of our sport, in addition to publicly thanking the former players. You must be grateful that they existed: without them, the tennis circus would not continue to exist.

“There have never been so many monetary prizes and there has never been as much publicity as there is today. Why? For the legends of this sport.

"All these players made it possible for Nick Kyrgios not to play tennis all year round and that, even so, he can make a living with this sport.”

But Kyrgios – never one to back down – has replied by brutally taking aim at Becker for his hiding of £2.5million worth of assets and loans, which led to the Wimbledon legend serving eight months of a two-and-a-half year prison sentence.

Kyrgios wrote on Twitter: “Bro what. I’ve been one of the FEW PLAYERS that have brought million more fans to the sport and have made more money for everyone NETFLIX…. Don’t remember seeing Boris on there. Guy is ridiculous. I’ve made my career off the court without the help of the others.”

He went on to add: “Uhhh what? I’ve been arguably one of the most watched players outside the big three the last decade?” and: “Fans around the world and have brought so many more people to the sport. I’ve created my own stuff off the court. Try to not hide any more assets x.”
