Mykhalo Mudryk has signed a jaw dropping eight-and-a-half year contract at Chelsea.

The Ukrainian winger has completed an £88million move to join Graham Potter's side despite months of speculation linking him to Arsenal. Mudryk was in the stands at Stamford Bridge to watch his new side take on Crystal Palace.

The West Londoners are currently languishing in tenth position but their January transfer business, in particular, the arrivals of Benoit Badiashile, Joao Felix, and Mudryk could be a desperately needed boost. However, one hopes Mudryk enjoys his time at Chelsea as he could be there for the majority of his career.

Mudryk has signed an astonishing eight-and-a-half year contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2031. If he is to see out this unbelievable contract, he will be 30 years old by the time it comes to an end.

It is a bold move from the West Londoners who will be hoping he is worth the money and time they have dedicated towards him. However, Chelsea fans are, unsurprisingly, shocked by the length of time his contract is.

"Mudryk signing for Chelsea on an eight-and-a-half-year contract for £88.5m is one crazy bit of business. Football’s gone mad," one fan wrote on social media.

"Surely Chelsea haven't given Mudryk an EIGHT AND A HALF YEAR deal?! That's an absolutely insane contract to give someone from any league ffs," another football supporter added. "Chelsea are either smart or silly, EIGHT and a HALF year contract for Mudryk."

After putting pen to paper on his lengthy deal, Mudryk stated he is very "excited" to have completed his move to the club. ‘I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea,’ Mudryk said after completing his move.

‘This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff.
