The young striker has now decided to take the next step and pursue her career elsewhere.

She has signed for for third-tier side AaFK Fortuna in her native Norway after the deal was confirmed on Tuesday.

She will initially sign an amateur contract with the Norwegian side and then pen her first professional deal from August 1, according to journalist Jamie Spencer.

United’s under-21 team thrashed Birmingham City 4-1 to win the Women’s Super League Academy Cup at St George’s Park with 19-year-old Karna playing just over an hour before being subbed off.

She went on to secure the national WSL Academy title after the U21s beat Chelsea in a two-legged play-off.

United women’s boss Skinner spoke fondly of Solskjaer after bringing her on against Bridgewater and stressed it had nothing to do with her lineage.

He said: ‘It wasn’t a token for Karna, it was a deserved [debut]. Congratulations to her. Obviously she’s got a famous dad, but she wants to be famous in her own right.’
