Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim share same view on Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag

Manchester United will offer Erik ten Hag a new contract – regardless of whether it’s Sir Jim Ratcliffe or Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani that takeover at Old Trafford.

The Dutchman has impressed during his debut campaign at the Theatre of Dreams and ended the club’s six-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup last month.

United are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and the Europa League, while they look likely to finish in the top four in the Premier League.

Ten Hag signed a £9m-a-year three-tear deal last summer, with the option of extending for a further 12 months.

But the Mirror report that United are so happy with Ten Hag’s work so far that they want to offer him a new, improved deal.

That’s despite the fact that the Glazer family could sell the club by the end of April, with talks entering a crucial stage at Old Trafford in the last few days.

But it’s reported that both Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim are happy with Ten Hag’s work and want him to continue as United manager.

Ratcliffe briefly met Ten Hag at the club’s training ground on Friday and wished him luck ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Fulham.

Having been given a tour of United’s facilities and a greater view of the club’s accounts, it’s now widely reported that Sheikh Jassim is willing to raise his £4.5bn indicative offer for the club.

Ratcliffe is similarly willing to increase his bid but he’s still aiming to buy the Glazers’ 69% ownership, rather than the club outright.

The Glazers value the club at around £6bn.
