Antonio Conte was having more and more doubts about taking the vacant managerial hot-seat at Tottenham as talks progressed between the two parties.
Conte led Spurs' bitter rivals, Chelsea, to the title in 2017, however, he was sacked the following summer and he has since claimed a Scudetto with Inter but currently finds himself unemployed.
And, according to reports, Conte was the clear front runner for the role as talks escalated over the past couple of days.
However, Conte believed that Spurs couldn't match his ambition – according to the Telegraph – as talks between the two hit a brick wall.
Concerns weren't just held by Conte either, and Tottenham were concerned about his demands, and if the Italian would offer young players a chance to play.
The Telegraph are reporting that Conte wanted assurances that he could build his squad around Harry Kane as he pushed for a trophy that would fill Spurs' notoriously empty cabinet.
Tottenham, on the other hand, want assurances that Ryan Sessegnon and Oliver Skip – who have both impressed on loan – will be introduced to the first-team fold.
Levy will now move onto a new target.

“I would like to have more experiences abroad,” Conte recently told DAZN.
“I think that I am not someone who is happy with just a comfortable situation. I always chose the most difficult situation instead."
However, Conte won't be taking on the Tottenham challenge.
