Chelsea fans all make same joke as club uploads cryptic post ahead of kit reveal

Chelsea fans all made the same joke about Mason Mount following the club's cryptic post ahead of their kit reveal.

The Blues are set to launch their new kit on Monday but there is speculation that the outfit could look very different to last season’s shirt.

And in fact, it could have a very unique look to other teams in the league as well after their £40million-per-year shirt sponsor partnership with Three ended last season.

According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea’s hunt for a new shirt sponsor has been tough after they reportedly backed out of a deal with gambling company Stake amid fan backlash.

The Premier League previously announced that gambling sponsorships on shirts would be banned from the 2025/26 season onwards, but Blues fans made their opinion heard on donning Stake on their shirt until then, and the club’s search continues.

The report from the Mail claims that Chelsea could actually launch their new kit without a sponsor in an incredibly rare sight, especially for a club of their stature.

But Chelsea may have hinted at their new kit sponsor just days before the launch after they posted a picture of an old Nokia phone with the game Snake playing on the screen.

The inclusion of Snake playing on the phone left some Chelsea fans making the same jokes about Mason Mount who left Chelsea to join Manchester United. One fan commented: “Interesting post about Mason Mount on the official Chelsea Instagram”

Whilst a second said: “Adding Mason Mount to the kit teasing videos when he’s left is a strange move from the club.”

Chelsea’s teaser video also showed ‘It’s a 90’s thing’ on the phone screen, leading some fans to believe that Nokia could be the sponsor.

Alternative theories simply suggested that the phone is synonymous with the 90s which Chelsea’s new kit may reflect in retro fashion after Nintendo were also used in a separate post.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will kick off their season at home to Liverpool on August 13 in their Premier League opener, with them sure to have sorted their shirt sponsor saga well in advance.
