Aston Villa are keen to sign Rennes Belgian star Jeremy Doku

Aston Villa ‘keen to sign Jeremy Doku’ and will submit improved bid for Belgian winger… as Unai Emery’s men look to finalise deal for Moussa Diaby

  • Aston Villa looking to add Rennes winger Jeremy Doku ahead of next season
  • Villa have already had a bid rejected for the Belgian but will make improved offer
  • Doku could join Moussa Diaby in new-look attack for Unai Emery’s Villa side

Aston Villa will look to continue to bolster their side ahead of next season by targeting Rennes winger Jeremy Doku.

So far this summer Villa have already added Youri Tielemans and Pau Torres to their squad and looked to be closing in on a club record £50m deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Moussa Diaby.

Now, according to Tuttomercatoweb, Unai Emery is looking to add further firepower to his attacking ranks with the signing of Doku.

The report suggests that Villa have already had an opening bid of around £20m rejected by the French club, but they will return with an improved offer of £25m for the Belgian to get the deal done.

Villa will be competing in the Europa Conference League next season and see Diaby as someone who could make-up a new look front line, which would include Ollie Watkins and new signings Diaby and Doku.

Jeremy Doku could be the latest name heading to Villa Park with the club keen to sign him

Doku scored seven goals and contributed four assists in 35 games for Rennes last season, and is a regular for the Belgian national set-up.

The 21-year-old has already been a subject of interest from Liverpool this summer, but it appears Villa are now the front runners to sign the winger.

The signing of Doku would add more pace and unpredictability to Villa’s attack, and at 21, has the potential to develop into a key player for club and country.

Doku could link-up with new signing Moussa Diaby, as Villa close in on a record deal for the French international.

Villa have been busy in the transfer market bringing in a number of new faces like Pau Torres

Emery has made the 24-year-old a top target having worked with him during his time as boss of PSG, when Diaby was coming through the ranks.

The move for Diaby, who netted 14 times in 48 games for Leverkusen last season, will cost the Villains £50m, smashing the club record £40m they paid for Emiliano Buendia in 2021.

Diaby has two more years left on his contract and Leverkusen want to keep him, but the player is thought to be attracted by the idea of joining a Premier League club.
