Antonio Conte backs Kane to break Tottenham's goal scoring record
Antonio Conte backs Harry Kane to break Tottenham’s all-time scoring record – as the Spurs striker heads into the north London derby just one goal shy of Jimmy Greaves’ 266 club-record total
- Harry Kane goes into north London derby one goal off Jimmy Greaves’s record
- Greaves’s record of 266 goals has stood untouched for more than half a century
- Spurs boss Conte believes it is only a matter of time before Kane breaks record
- Kane has scored four goals for Tottenham since returning from the World Cup
Harry Kane goes into the north London derby one away from Jimmy Greaves’s record of 266 Tottenham goals.
It has stood untouched for more than half a century and such is Kane’s prolific record against Arsenal, it would be no surprise if he drew level with legend Greavsie tomorrow.
If not, it is only a matter of time according to Spurs manager Antonio Conte.

‘He has great numbers and we are talking about a world-class striker who is going to beat every record,’ said the Italian.
‘He deserves this. But I want always to underline the other aspect, the human aspect, because not only is he a world-class striker but a good man, a good person and, for us, an important point of reference.
‘I’m sure he’s going to beat this record. He is doing something incredible. We try to help him and if he scores he helps us. This exchange of favours is important.’

Kane has scored four Tottenham goals since returning from the World Cup but has not taken a penalty following his miss from the spot in England’s 2-1 quarter-final defeat by France.
‘He has already overcome the negative situation,’ said Conte, whose side are two points off the top four.
‘He has a big, big personality and knows he is going to continue to score, and to take penalties.’
