Agent of ‘next Mesut Ozil’ honoured to be linked to Arsenal with player learning English

Arsenal are linked with a move for Lille midfielder Yusuf Yazici and the player’s agent is “honoured” to have his client targeted by the likes of the Gunners. Yazici has been compared to Arsenal outcast Mesut Ozil for his creative ability from attacking midfield. He would become the third player in recent times to leave Lille for Arsenal if a move did materialise, following the transfers of Nicolas Pepe and Gabriel Magalhaes in the last two summers.

Yazici, 23, hit the headlines this season after scoring two hat-tricks for Lille in the Europa League.

His first treble came in the 4-1 win at Sparta Prague in October before scoring another three in an impressive 3-0 victory against AC Milan at the San Siro earlier this month.

Arsenal are interested in signing creative players after scoring just nine goals in their first eight Premier League games so far this season.

Lyon’s Houssem Aouar and Red Bull Salzburg’s Dominik Szoboszlai are both on the Gunners’ list of targets.

But reports have also linked Mikel Arteta’s side with Yazici.

Turkey international Yazici joined Lille from Trabzonspor in 2019.

His agent, Adem Cebeci, says Yazici is currently happy playing for the Ligue 1 club.

But he said Lille are likely to look to sell him to gain a large profit on the £15.6million they paid Trabzonspor last year.

“In Lille, he works with the best,” Cebeci told Turkish outlet Demiroren.

“Yusuf feels right at home here to work on his weaknesses – speed and speed.

“They want to use his full potential and sell him to even bigger clubs for a lot of money.

“We are honoured that big clubs have had an eye on him.”

Yazici suffered an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury during his first season at Lille.

But Cebeci said the midfielder did not let it affect him in a negative way and started learning English and French during his rehabilitation.

“Challenges have always made him stronger,” he added.

“When he was seriously injured, he arrived on the second day and said that he had to use this difficult time positively.

“He asked for English lessons, followed by French.”
