Neymar trying to engineer stunning swap deal with Gareth Bale

Paris Saint-Germain have held discussions about a potential swap deal for Neymar and Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, reports say.

Neymar is determined to leave PSG this summer, but has heavily been linked with a return to Barcelona.

The Brazilian infuriated PSG when he returned late to pre-season and the Independent claim the player’s team is trying to convince the club to push for a swap deal which would see Bale join the French champions and Neymar sign for Real.

Bale is experiencing his own issues at his club after Zinedine Zidane sensationally admitted he ‘hoped’ the Welshman would soon be leaving.

Zidane insisted Bale’s exit was close to being finalised, but was branded a ‘disgrace’ by the player’s agent after making the comments.

Bale reportedly wants to stay in Spain and is not interested in a move to the Chinese Super League.

After resisting Neymar’s initial attempts to leave, PSG now believe their best option is to offload the forward.

Real’s president Florentino Perez has a long-standing interest in Neymar and sending Bale in the opposite direction would seemingly suit both parties.

Jonathan Barnett, Bale’s agent, hit back at Zidane, insisting the 30-year-old would not be forced out of Real.

‘If and when Gareth goes it will be because it is in the best interest of Gareth and nothing to do with Zidane pushing,’ he told the BBC.

‘We’re working on a few things. Gareth is a Real Madrid player but if he does leave it will be his own decision, not Mr Zidane’s.’

Tottenham have registered an interest in Bale, but are not capable of matching the wages their former talisman earns at Real.

Despite Bale’s salary, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino refused to rule out the possibility of the Wales international returning to Tottenham.
