WWE salaries from Roman Reigns and John Cena to The Undertaker

Roman Reigns is the Big Dog who rules over WWE at present as the Universal Champion.

The 35-year-old American has taken over from John Cena as the face of the company.

And with legendary superstar The Undertaker making his retirement official at Survivor Series in November, there is no doubt who is now 'the man' in WWE, despite the appearances greats of the past like Goldberg and Edge occasionally make at top events.

But where does Reigns, real name Leati Joseph 'Joe' Anoa'i, rank when it comes to WWE salaries?

The company's talent train to be wrestlers for years, ply their craft across the globe and put their bodies on the line, all in the name of 'sports entertainment'.

Wrestling's highest-calibre athletes take home a significant base wage, but also benefit from a percentage of merchandise sales.

There are also tidy bonuses when they headline big events, but the performers – who remain independent contractors – have to pay a lot of their own travel and accommodation costs, which might surprise those unfamiliar with the business.

According to reports, box office attraction Brock Lesnar was the highest paid earner who led the way for big extras with a host of main events and he also boasted the most significant base salary.

The former UFC competitor earned an astonishing $12million-a-year as a base – around £9.3m. He also received a cool $500,000-per-main event appearance.

However, the 43-year-old's contract has now expired and he is yet to come to terms on a new deal with Vince McMahon's sports entertainment juggernaut.

Next up on the list is part time competitor Cena – the 16-time world champion who is now making a name for himself away from the ring in Hollywood.

The first full-time wrestler on the list is said to be Reigns, who despite main evening four of the last five WrestleManias, is third in the rankings with base earnings of £3.9m.

Fourteen time world champion Randy Orton is up next, with earnings of £3.5m. He remains one of WWE's top performers and enjoyed a stellar 2020.

The Viper is followed by AJ Styles on £2.7m and Seth Rollins on £2.3m – two of the most impressive workers in the ring and performers that McMahon can always count on.

Ronda Rousey's arrival in WWE immediately put her top of the women's division both in the ring and at the bank, but she hasn't competed in 18 months.

The former UFC fighter still made significantly less than the top male stars as she raked in just £1.2million.

However, Becky Lynch – who has taken time off to start a family – has cashed in on her meteoric success over the last two to three years.

Lynch has gone from a base salary of $250,000 to one of $1million per year, thanks to a new deal she signed in 2019.
