Roy Keane delivers brutal statement on Arsenal star Willian after Man Utd draw

Roy Keane took aim at out-of-form forward Willian after Arsenal and Manchester United played out a goalless draw on Saturday evening.

Willian, 32, joined the Gunners on a free transfer from Chelsea last summer but has failed to live up to expectations since making the switch from west to north London.

The Brazilian is yet to open his account for Arsenal despite making 22 appearances in all competitions, and he endured another frustrating evening against United.

"I think the manager [Mikel Arteta] will be pleased.

"When three of your better players are missing, you want to see a bit of fight and a bit of spirit and they done all that.

"I really fancied United before the game but we saw these chances. Obviously it sums up Willian’s time since he’s gone to the club.

"I didn’t for one minute think he would take this chance.

"But it was definitely spirited and they created chances. They’ll be delighted with the draw, no doubt."

Willian returned 125 goals or assists during seven seasons with Chelsea, so his slow start to life with Arsenal is difficult to explain.

Gunners legend Tony Adams claims the decision to hand the veteran winger a lucrative three-year deal is yet more evidence of the club's poor recruitment strategy.
