Paddy Pimbletts UFC return confirmed against star who overcame drug addiction

Paddy Pimblett will face Jared Gordon when he returns to the octagon at UFC 282.

Pimblett, also known as Paddy the Baddy, has taken UFC by storm since his debut victory over Luigi Vendramini last September. The 27-year-old remains unbeaten following subsequent wins against Rodrigo Vargas and Jordan Leavitt, the latter of which brought the house down at London's O2 Arena.

It's been three months since that stunning submission success, and now UFC fans finally know who Pimblett will take on next as he continues his rise through the ranks. It was confirmed on Saturday morning that the Liverpudlian favourite will face American Jared Gordon in Las Vegas on December 10.

Gordon is much more experienced in UFC than Pimblett's three previous opponents and should provide a stern test for the star. The 34-year-old boasts an 11-4 record in the promotion and won his last bout via unanimous decision against Leonardo Santos.

He also fought lightweight no.1 Charles Oliveira in 2019, losing by way of knockout inside one round. His journey to UFC has not been the most straightforward, having overcome drug addiction to reach the top of the sport.

In a 2017 interview, Gordon revealed that he had overdosed three times, the last of which left him legally dead for two minutes. He said: "I overdosed three times. I was facing 25 years to life at one point. I’ve been homeless, panhandling, I’ve been to psych wards.

"I’ve been to rehab 10 times, and I’ve had near-death situations. At this point, I just consider myself grateful and extremely lucky and blessed to be where I am."

Pimblett's fans are excited to see him back in action and took to the comments section underneath his Instagram post announcing December's contest to express their anticipation.

One person wrote: "You're gonna wipe the floor with him lad." Someone else said: "Can't wait c'mon Paddy." A third user commented: "It's on Y.N.W.A!" While another fan wrote: "Flash is getting smashed!"
