Popular UFC lightweight Bobby Green believes Paddy Pimblett doesn’t belong in the UFC. The Liverpudlian recently defeated Jared Gordon in controversial fashion to improve his record under the promotional banner to 4-0.

Despite the vast majority of media members, fans and fighters scoring it in favour of Gordon, the three judges at cageside saw it the other way. Fan favourite Green was among those who were less than impressed by Pimblett’s performance and has branded Pimblett an ‘amateur fighter’.

“I actually think he’s an amateur fighter, he’s not even a professional, he’s an amateur. He doesn’t belong there,” Green told Eurosport.

“Of course, I would take it. I would take the easy money. At the same time, it wouldn’t do anything for my brand after I did it. It would be like, well he was supposed to. It wouldn’t do anything for me but I’d do it for s***s and giggles.

“Paddy would never take that fight, Paddy would never take that fight, okay. I know for a fact he would never take the fight. He doesn’t have enough skills to even dance with me.

“It would actually be disrespect if they put him in there with me. I’d have to get rid of him really fast because it would be disrespectful if we are in the same cage.” A heartbroken Gordon took to social media following the loss to voice his displeasure at the decision. “I was robbed everyone knows it I can cry about it but I been back from worst and gods plan is the best plan, so I know there’s something big to come from it,” he wrote.

And he wasn’t alone in his assessment. Esteemed MMA journalist Ariel Helwani tweeted: “Not even messing around now: Was that one of the worst decisions ever? I think you can make a case. I’m blown away that not a single judge had it for Gordon.”

@Coreyshelton91 added: “I HATE using the word robbery but I don’t think Paddy won a single round there, I am shocked by that decision. #UFC282.” UFC middleweight Derek Brunson said: “The refs on that discord chat. They know damn well my boy Paddy didn’t win that.”

Before UFC welterweight Belal Muhammad concluded: “I’m literally speechless right now – HOW!?!? The judges couldn’t even figure out what Rounds paddy won they just guessed.”

Pimblett is now expected to Pimblett headline a UFC Fight Night card when he returns to the Octagon with company president Dana White promising the Scouser the honour providing he beat Gordon. Exactly when that will be is presently unclear with Pimblett currently nursing a right ankle injury sustained in the fight.
