Footage has emerged of YouTuber Jake Paul tapping out during his ‘first cage fight’ against former jiu-jitsu star AJ Agazarm. The video taken five years ago has since been deleted, but shows a young Paul struggling to cope with the pressure of Agazarm resulting in him tapping out during the second round of their contest.

The YouTube star first started seriously training in February 2018 after being called out by fellow social media star KSI. As part of his early introduction to fighting Paul recorded a vlog every day which included footage of an MMA sparring session against Agazarm.

Aged 20 at the time and inexperienced in fighting Paul accepted from the outset that he was going to face a beating from 26-year-old Agazarm. However, Paul does weigh in around 45lbs heavier than his sparring opponent and is around four-inches taller, giving the YouTuber a significant advantage.

After being pinned up against the cage early in the bout Paul was on the backfoot with Agazarm seemingly going easy on his helpless opponent. After surviving the first round Paul requested water and donuts before the beating became too much in the second round for the YouTuber tapping out.

Despite being dominated throughout the MMA sparring session Paul did show glimpses of the talent that would later emerge in his boxing. The American turned professional in 2020 against AnEsonGib and has won all six of his fights including four knockouts.

Paul has beaten MMA legends Tyron Woodley and Ben Askren in the boxing ring as well as UFC star Anderson Silva during his last fight in October. The 25-year-old has now signed for the Professional Fighters’ League and will compete in its new ‘super-fight’ division.

The New York Times confirmed that both Paul and his manager Nakisa Bidarian will be receiving equity in the fight promotion company as part of the deal. Paul told the Times: “This is about changing MMA. Disrupting, innovating, and creating the next big league.

“The biggest thing for me would be getting the kicks down. But I’m going to start now, moving forward with some extra time I have within this camp. I’m going to put in some extra time, rolling around doing some jiu-jitsu and learning some kicks.”
