Ex-UFC star Nate Diaz issued with arrest warrant after street brawl

An arrest warrant has reportedly been issued for Nate Diaz after he was caught on film choking out a man in New Orleans. The UFC icon appeared in Louisiana to support Chris Avila in the main event at Misfits Boxing 6, however, he was later seen in a fight that same night.

The video appears to show Diaz with his arms wrapped around the neck of Rodney Peterson, before leaving him out cold on the floor. New Orleans Police Department have since issued, according to MMA Fighting, an arrest warrant for Diaz on suspicion of second-degree battery.

“There has been an arrest warrant issued — he is not in custody,” Boudrie said. Diaz’s representative declined to comment when contacted by MMA fighting.

After the incident emerged, footage showed Peterson showed off a head wound and promised to knock Diaz “the f*** out”. Peterson added in a video posted to Twitter: “I don’t know what the hell I did to Nate Diaz. But I tell you what, I’m going to knock him the f*** out when I know he’s coming. You caught me off-guard dude. What? Did you think I was Logan [Paul]?.”

UFC supremo Dana White was left shocked by the viral footage, as he said: “His head bounced like a f****** basketball”.

Diaz, however, found an unlikely ally in Conor McGregor, with the Irishman taking to Twitter to air his thoughts. He penned: “Hahaha Nate on a rampage tonight! Let’s go Nate! Hahaha.”

McGregor also predicted that Nate Diaz will “slap the head off” Jake Paul during their eagerly-anticipated boxing contest. Paul and former UFC star Diaz will go head-to-head in Dallas, Texas, on August 5.

McGregor, who has fought Diaz twice – with the pair locked at one win apiece – reckons Diaz will wipe the floor with former Disney star Paul.

Revealing he doesn’t plan on watching the fight in person, McGregor revealed: “I think Nate Diaz slaps his head off and I’m looking forward to seeing it. “[Will I be there?] I’ll probably be in the Lamborghini on the coast of Sicily. I think it’s Nate.”

Many will be curious to see how Paul performs following his recent defeat to Tommy Fury – his first loss in seven bouts. Diaz, meanwhile, has already proved himself as a decorated fighter, with 22 wins from 35 fights in MMA.
