MMA beauty Mackenzie Dern is back in UFC action this weekend and is aiming to take home a cool $50,000 (£45,000) bonus. Dern returns to the octagon to take on Chinese star on Xiaonan on Saturday evening.

Dern heads into the bout on the back of an impressive victory over Tecia Torres, after defeating her fellow American via decision at UFC 273 in April. The 29-year-old has proven to be one of the UFC's rising female stars in recent years. Dern is a multi-time Brazilian jiujutsu world champion, before making the UFC transition in 2016.

As well as starring in the cage, the 29-year-old fighter has also made a name for herself out of it, having raked in over one million followers on her Instagram.

This comes after the fighting championship confirmed that UFC 61 will take place behind closed doors with no media or fans in attendance. In a statement UFC bosses said: "UFC Fight Night: Dern vs. Yan taking place at the Apex on October 1st will be closed to the public and media."

MMA reporter Alex Behunin later reported that the media were able to attend the weigh-in but not on fight night. Ahead of the bout, Dern spoke about how she is finding it much easier to meet weight requirements, something she struggled with early on her career.

She said: "I’m so comfortable right now. It’s just my goal is just, like right now I’m really just working on getting muscle mass. So I’ve been with my strength training coach Rogerio Camoes for two years now. So it’s just it’s a long process, you know, just putting on muscle, putting on muscle.

"But I definitely feel I’m getting there, you know, I want to eventually be like, in a spot where maybe I can feel comfortable at 125 If I wanted to, you know, so it’s just like, thinking ahead, you know, okay, five years from now, something like that. But yeah, I mean, I’m in a really good moment in my career.”
