Klopp says he ‘thought Darwin had shrunk’ after spotting new Liverpool haircut

Jurgen Klopp was spotted taking the mickey out of Konstantinos Tsimikas' new hairdo when the Greece international returned to Liverpool training this week.

After turning up sporting a brand new man-bun, Tsimikas immediately drew comparisons to team-mate Darwin Nunez, who has been rocking the hairstyle since 2021.

In a video taken from inside Liverpool's Melwood training complex, Klopp is heard offering Tsimikas money to cut his man-bun off before joking that he thought "Darwin had shrunk" when he first saw him.

Tsimikas appeared to take the barb in good spirits and was seen walking past his manager with a smile on his face, which is just as well as Liverpool fans on social media didn't have an awful lot of sympathy for the 26-year-old.

"Classic Klopp, he's the funniest manager alive," one fan tweeted.

"Totally agree with Klopp haha cut that little bob off his head. Rubbish look that," commented another, while a third wrote: "Absolutely savage from Kopp but I'm all for it."

Would Tsimikas do a better job up front for Liverpool than Nunez? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Tsimikas joined the Reds from Olympiacos back in 2020 and although he's found game-time hard to come by when everyone's fit, the defender has featured for Klopp's side heavily in recent months.

He scored the winning penalty in the FA Cup final back in May and has played a part in five of Liverpool's six Premier League matches so far this season.

Nunez on the other hand has made a stuttering start to his Anfield career. The £85m man netted against Manchester City on his debut in the Community Shield but has struggled for form and discipline in the league, scoring just once in three matches and getting himself sent off for headbutting against Crystal Palace.

Footage of him blazing a shot miles wide of the target during Uruguay training went viral last week with rival fans labelling him the 'biggest scam in football.'
