ITV viewers told pundit Roy Keane to “bore off” with fans watching the World Cup left unhappy with the Manchester United icon’s comments during Brazil’s victory over South Korea. The Irishman felt that several members of the Brazilian squad and head coach Tite were showboating during the first half for their celebrations of the four goals in the opening 45 minutes.

Brazil danced together after each of their goals, while following Richarlison’s stunning strike he ran over to Tite and the entire squad copied the Tottenham man’s iconic pigeon celebration together. Fans enjoyed the scenes as Brazil laid down their marker, but Keane was not impressed.

“I don’t like this,” Keane admitted. “He’s made a point about culture, I get that but I think it’s disrespecting the opposition. It’s four and they’re doing it every time. I don’t mind the first kind of little jig – whatever they’re doing – but they’re still doing it after that, and then the manager getting involved with it. I’m not happy with it, I don’t think it’s very good at all.

“South Korea all over the place. I’ve never seen so much dancing – it’s like watching Strictly! Can’t believe what I’m watching, I really can’t. South Korea, my goodness, I can’t believe what I’m watching.”

Though ITV viewers disagreed with Keane and enjoyed Brazil’s first-half celebrations. YouTube influencer Chunkz took to Twitter to voice his opinion. “Ohhhhh bore off Roy Keane,” he wrote. “Complaining about Brazil dancing, Senegal chanting. Lighten up you stiff boring man.”

Several fans echoed Chunkz’s view, and told him to enjoy watching one of the favourites to win the tournament. “Roy Keane saying it’s like strictly come dancing and Brazil are disrespecting South Korea with the dancing,” one fan tweeted. “They’d do this against anyone, just enjoy the vibes man.”

Another fan wanted Brazil to go even further with their celebrations to annoy Keane further. “I want Brazil to purposefully bag another few goals & dance even more so we get Roy Keane raging at full-time,” they tweeted. “Need the team physio to join in this time as well.”

Richarlison’s goal especially sent fans wild, as he juggled the ball on his head before being played in by Lucas Paqueta and produced a smart finish. He scored a stunning goal earlier in the tournament as well, flicking the ball over his head and acrobatically striking it to score against Serbia which prompted a debate in the ITV studio.

“Unbelievable,” Keane said as he described Richarlison’s goal. “And the weight of the pass [from Thiago Silva] is fantastic, for a central defender, and great run, he gets the first touch and he’s in on goal. It’s so simple, lovely finish, good for him.”

Former England striker Eni Aluko then asked Keane a question about the goal. “I think we’ve got a debate now,” the former Lioness said. “What is the best goal Richarlison has scored?” Keane then could not turn down the chance to speak about Brazil’s dancing again: “I thought you were going to say best dance!”
