Wilfried Zaha and Reece James have been involved in an amusing back and forth on social media following Chelsea’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Former Eagles loanee Conor Gallagher hit the winner for Chelsea at Selhurst Park, after Odsonne Edouard had put the hosts in front, before Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang’s first Blues goal had got them back into the game.

After the match, Chelsea defender Reece James took to Twitter to express his delight in the victory and throw a cheeky dig in the direction of Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.

Reece James and Wilfried Zaha were involved in an entertaining duel during Saturday’s game

James took to Twitter to throw a sly dig at Zaha suggesting he had the player ‘on lock’ during the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park

The England defender posted a picture of him getting the better of Zaha during the game and alongside it an emoji of a padlock. Suggesting that he had the Palace winger ‘on lock’ and kept him quiet during the game.

But Zaha wasn’t going to let James have the day all his own way, and replied to the post via his Instagram stories.

Adding the message ‘Clouts a hell of a drug lol But yall be safe.’ In an apparent light-hearted warning to James about not letting the duel go to his head. However, the Eagles star later deleted the post from his account.

Zaha replied to James but saying he shouldn’t let the performance go to his head but later deleted his Instagram story from his account

Zaha has once again been Palace’s main man this season, with four goals so far this season, but was largely subdued during the game as he was well marshalled by Chelsea’s James.

The victory marked the first win for the Blues under new manager Graham Potter, who was managing Chelsea for the first time in the Premier League.

Chelsea’s victory moved the club up to fifth in the table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal who have played a game more than their London rivals.

They are next in action in midweek when the host AC Milan in the Champions League before a home clash with Wolves next weekend.
