Watford manager Claudio Ranieri has vented his anger at Arsenal’s controversial winner which saw them snatch all three point on Sunday afternoon. Emile Smith Rowe’s goal eventually proved crucial, although a foul and a debatable incident of sportsmanship in the build-up left the Italian furious at being left empty-handed.
The Hornets pushed Arsenal all the way despite going into the game as underdogs, with only one goal deciding the three points.
That opportunity fell to Smith Rowe after quick feet from Ben White created an opening, and the youngster fired home emphatically.
There were two contentious events for Ranieri in the build-up, including a point where he felt the Gunners should have given the ball back after they had put it out of play, and a potential foul on Ismaila Sarr.
No action was taken for either, however, and Juraj’s Kucka’s red card compounded a frustrating afternoon for Ranieri and Watford.
“On the incident before the goal, when we voluntarily put the ball out, everyone expects the ball to be put to us,” vented the Italian after the final whistle.
“There was no respect in this action.
“Then we got the ball and we were on the counter-attack with Sarr and it’s a big foul.
“I’m not happy about the Kucka situation either. It is not right to have this decision.”
