Tottenham’s managing director of football Fabio Paratici reportedly remains confident that Harry Kane will remain at the club this summer. Some reports this week stated that the striker was closing in on a move to Manchester City, but that now appears not to be the case.

The Sun reported on Friday that, despite Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s previous stance that he was not prepared for Kane to leave the club, he had changed his mind and was willing to let the forward depart.

However, The Athletic is reporting by contast that Paratici, who joined the club from Juventus in the summer, is confident he can keep hold of the club’s star man.

This is partly down to Kane’s age and, at nearly 28, Spurs don’t think anyone – including City – will meet their £160million valuation to sign him.

This was conveyed to potential candidates for the head coach job this summer, and was repeated by new boss Nuno Espirito Santo in his first press conference as boss last week.

“Harry is our player, period,” he said.

“No need to talk about anything else.

“He has a hard job to do, totally committed to the national team, obviously, so this is why I decided not to speak to any of them.

”I will speak when they arrive. “This is the right moment – in our own building, face to face, sitting down and to prepare our future together.”

Kane is City’s top target this summer, as they look to replace Sergio Aguero, who left the club to join Barcelona.

Kane is said to have expressed his want to leave his boyhood club towards the end of last season.

His desire to leave Spurs is driven by his ambition to win trophies, something he is yet to do in his career.

During an interview with Gary Neville earlier this year, he described how he had been watching on as other English teams enjoyed success in Europe and wanted to be “involved”.

“I want to be playing in the biggest games. The biggest moments,” Kane told Neville.

“Like, this season I’m there watching the Champions League, watching the English teams in there doing amazing. They are the games that I want to be involved in.

“I want to be in those games. So for sure, it’s a moment in my career where I have to kind of reflect and see where I’m at and have a good, honest conversation with the chairman.

“I hope that we can have that conversation.

“I’m sure that he’ll want to set out the plan of where he sees it but ultimately it’s going to be down to me and how I feel and what’s going to be the best for me and my career this moment in time.”
