Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho and Daniel Levy in disagreement over Dele Alli transfer exit

Tottenham: Mourinho gives insight into deadline day plans

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho and chairman Daniel Levy reportedly disagree on the future of Dele Alli. England international Alli is wanted by Paris Saint-Germain before tonight’s transfer deadline. PSG are managed by Mauricio Pochettino, who got the best out of Alli during his tenure at Spurs.

Alli has not started a Premier League match since the opening day of the season, where he was substituted at half time of the 1-0 loss to Everton.

He has made just three substitute appearances in the competition since and has been mainly restricted to cup and European outings.

talkSPORT host Jim White gave an update on Alli’s future at Tottenham on Monday morning.

White claimed PSG have seen at least three offers for Alli turned down.

Alli and his representatives are keen for a deal to happen ahead of this summer’s European Championships.

However, Mourinho and Levy are at an impasse over a potential exit.

Mourinho is “more than happy” for Alli to leave Spurs, however Levy is not willing to sanction a move.

Speaking last week, Mourinho admitted he expected Alli to stay until the summer.

“The transfer window is open and sometimes unexpected things can happen but I don’t expect it,” said Mourinho.

“I am saying that since the beginning of the transfer window I was not expecting anyone to leave.

“I was not expecting anyone to come. Until now 27th Jan, almost at the end… I don’t believe anything will happen but it’s open, still.

“Football is football.”

Mourinho has faced calls to reinstate Alli into his first-team plans following a run of just two wins from their last nine Premier League matches.

Spurs’ hopes of a first top-flight title since 1961 have diminished, as they currently sit sixth in the table, 11 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Sunday saw Mourinho’s side deservedly lose 1-0 against Brighton at the Amex.

After the match, the Portuguese said his players looked “sad” in the first half especially.

“We didn’t start well… mentally, with that happiness, that positive feeling you need to play football,” Mourinho said.

“I felt the team started the game sad, and when we conceded that first goal, it was a complete loss of dynamic in the first half.

“The second half was totally different. We couldn’t score, we didn’t create that many, many chances, our dominance was a dominance with a couple of good chances but no more than that.

“We didn’t score, we were not happy not to score a goal, but in the second half the feeling was much better.”
