Ten Hag 'plans to fast track the Manchester United career of Garnacho'

Erik ten Hag ‘plans to fast track the Manchester United career of teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho’ as the Dutch boss goes to work on his Old Trafford revolution

  • Alejandro Garnacho impressed for Manchester United’s u18s in the Youth Cup
  • Fans had been calling consistently for his involvement in the first team last term
  • Erik ten Hag is reportedly excited by the player and will look to involve him

Erik ten Hag is reportedly keen to give teenage sensation Alejandro Garnacho a bigger role in the first team next season.

Garnacho, who impressed for Manchester United’s u18s in last season’s FA Youth Cup triumph, is said to have caught the eye of the new boss and he will be given an opportunity to show his worth to the senior set up.

According to The Mirror, Ten Hag had staff at Manchester United’s Carrington training base set him up with an MUTV subscription so he could watch the FA Youth Cup final win over Nottingham Forest.

While Ten Hag was said to be keen to assess all of Manchester United’s youth talent, his focus was on Garnacho who he views as having real potential of being able to break into the first team.

Garnacho starred that night as he scored twice in a 3-1 triumph. The night ended with Manchester United fans in the Stretford End serenading him with an iteration of Cristiano Ronaldo’s song.

The young forward made his senior debut as a late substitute in 1-1 draw with Chelsea back in April, with the club’s fans regularly calling for him to play more later in the season under Ralf Rangnick.

The club are currently said to be prioritising a new deal for the young forward, believed to be a six-year contract.

The player was regularly fawned over by Man United fans as they searched for shining lights

Arthur Albiston, a Manchester United and Scotland legend, academy analyst for the club’s in-house television station MUTV said that the Argentine has impressed him thoroughly and now he has added goals to his game he is attracting plenty of attention.

He told The Mirror: ‘I’ve watched his development and he’s now catching the eye without a doubt because he’s adding goals to his game.’

‘He’s a very talented lad and can come off both wings and cut inside because he’s got two good feet,’ he said.

‘That’s a problem for defenders because he’s capable of going by you on both sides of the pitch. He’s got good balance, moves well and clearly has a sound temperament.

Erik ten Hag will look to make the young forward a part of his senior squad this coming season

‘I’ve seen a lot of kids coming through at United who have ability but playing in front of 75,000 at Old Trafford is another level and not all of them can handle that. Garnacho looks like he can.’

‘He stepped up with no problem when United had a penalty in the FA Youth Cup Final against Forest,’ he added.

‘He won the penalty with some sharp play then tucked it away as cool as you like in front of the Stretford End.’

Garnacho recently impressed while on duty with Argentina’s U20s side finishing joint-second leading scorer at the prestigious Maurice Revello tournament in Toulon with four goals in as many games.
