Stefan Bajcetic out for the season as Liverpool fans demand ‘sack medical staff’

Liverpool fans have been left seething at the club's medical department after Stefan Bajcetic announced he will miss the rest of their season during their injury nightmare.

Bajcetic took to social media to announce he would play no further part in his breakthrough season under Jurgen Klopp – which has been miserable for the club as a whole.

Bajcetic wrote alongside a black and white snap of him in action: "Unfortunately I’ve picked up an injury that will keep me out until the end of the season.

"It’s very sad to say goodbye to this amazing season for me but I understand this is part of football and will only make me stronger physically and mentally.

"I would also like to say thank you to you reds for all the support through the season and I assure you I will do my best to be back stronger than ever."

One fan wrote on Twitter: "Just sack the medical staff now."

A second said: "I've no idea what the medical team are doing at LFC. Every player breaks down." A third agreed: "It’s just normal now."

A fifth added: "Unreal injury record around the squad just ridiculous." A sixth then concluded: "What is going on?"

Klopp had told the media Bajcetic had a 'stress response' to a knock, while waiting on the injury to settle down before making a judgement.

The Spaniard has been a shining light during Liverpool's dismal season having made 19 appearances in all competitions and scoring his first goal in their win over Aston Villa.

Bajcetic will be on the treatment table just after Diogo Jota returned to first team action and as Luis Diaz joins full training.

According to The Times and Premier League Injuries, Liverpool stars have missed more matches through injury than another side in the league this season.

Other long-term absentees across the campaign have included Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez, Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita.

Having been knocked out of the Carabao Cup and FA Cup before their Champions League capitulation, Liverpool now need to focus on earning a top-four finish in the Premier League.
