Spurs fans fume at ‘weak as p***’ Romero as they concede early to AC Milan

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left fuming at Cristian Romero after conceding to AC Milan inside seven minutes.

Any hope of Spurs securing a well-defended 1-0 win over Milan as they did in the two sides' Champions League last-16 clash 12 years ago was dashed almost immediately on Wednesday night.

The Rossoneri capitalised on a series of Spurs errors at the back to go in front courtesy of Brahim Diaz. But it was supposed 'hard-man' centre-back Romero who was singled out by fans for his role in conceding.

The ball was lofted up towards the World Cup-winning Argentine, who was easily beaten in the air by Theo Hernandez. Romero went tumbling over despite his 6ft1in stature, as Hernandez fired a shot at Fraser Forster in goal.

Eric Dier failed to snuff out the danger and the ball bounced back into Diaz's path in the box, who gave the home side the lead. And Spurs supporters quickly took to Twitter to voice their outrage at Romero's soft defending.

One Twitter user wrote: "Romero at fault for that! How is he getting out muscled in that headed challenge."

"Romero weak as p***," another fumed.

"Romero can’t get beaten like that man, he got dunked on," a third tweeted.

And a fourth commented: "That goal is on Romero too who was too weak in the header."
