Roy Keane has admitted he doubted whether Marcus Rashford had the ability to become Manchester United’s main man.

Rashford has been in scintillating form for the Red Devils season, scoring 25 times so far.

He had a difficult couple of years on the field, but has turned into one of the form players on the planet this term.

Keane was speaking ahead of United’s Premier League game against Liverpool on Sunday.

Speaking on Sky Sports, he admitted he wondered whether the forward had what it took to make it to the top, but praised his attitude for doing so.

‘He’s in great form’, Keane began. ‘I wasn’t sure if he had that personality but he has, he’s taken the responsibility. 

‘I think he’s enjoyed the responsibility. He’s in the form of his life, clear mentally, he’s focusing on his football now, it’s his priority and he’s getting rewards.’

Gary Neville, also speaking on Sky, compared Rashford to Mo Salah as United and Liverpool’s talismen.

Neville challenged Rashford to hit the heights of his Merseyside counterpart as United continue their revival under Erik ten Hag.

‘What he’s done this season is fantastic but Salah’s been doing it consistently, winning titles’, Neville said.

‘He needs to do it and take United to those titles.’
