Richarlison was spotted in tears on the bench after taking his hopeless Tottenham form onto the international stage.
Fresh from no goals in four Premier League games so far this season and being taunted by fellow forwards, the 26-year-old was named in the starting line-up for Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Bolivia.
The Selecao romped to a 5-1 victory but Richarlison wasn’t among the scorers, although he should have been after blazing a shot over the bar from close range early in the second half. He was then substituted with 19 minutes remaining and looked crestfallen on the bench as he watched the rest of the game.
After spotting his pain, some Spurs fans have rallied around the forward, with one posting: “If anybody can get him back to his best, it’s Big Ange. We support you Richarlison.”

Another said: “He’s overthinking it now. Form is temporary, he’ll bounce back.” A second added: “I'll always have faith in him and stand behind him. Has shown many times that with consistency he can be a major threat.”
A fourth encouraged: “He is clearly going through a difficult time. We support you to bounce back and contribute massively to our season.”

However, other fans were less sympathetic, with one quipping: “Someone should make Richarlison crying comp [compilation].”
Meanwhile, a Chelsea fan declared: “One of the worst signings of all time for Tottenham.”
Richarlison’s only goal so far this season came in the Carabao Cup tie at Fulham, who won on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Last season, despite an excellent World Cup in Qatar, where he scored three times, he scored just once in the Premier League – and that came in a losing cause at Liverpool.
Richarlison had a number of goals disallowed. In fact, he had more yellow cards for goal celebrations, when he ripped his shirt off, than actual goals, and has spoken out about his terrible time under Antonio Conte.
