Ricardo Pereira breaks leg in tackle from Tyler Morton which only got yellow
Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Ricardo Pereira has suffered a broken leg following a horror challenge from Liverpool's Tyler Morton.
Morton had been handed a first-team opportunity from Jurgen Klopp with the sides meeting in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
The 19-year-old lunged into the challenge that caught Pereira around the knee, leaving the Leicester man writhing in pain.
The Portuguese full-back received medical attention on the pitch, and he was withdrawn for Marc Albrighton just before half-time.
Morton escaped a red for the challenge.
At the time Pereira had been on the field the Foxes had led 3-1, but Klopp's men pulled the tie back to 3-3 before advancing on penalties.
Speaking to the media following Leicester's 6-3 drubbing at the hands of league leaders Manchester City, Rodgers revealed the extent of Pereira's injury.
The Leicester boss said: Ricardo Pereira will be [out for] six to eight weeks.
"That's so frustrating for him with how hard he has worked.
"For the referee not to see that, it's a fractured fibula and he's lucky it’s not worse."

The Portuguese defender has already suffered a lengthy spell on the sidelines that has seen him struggle to reach his top form since his return.
In March 2020, Pereira suffered a ruptured ACL in Leicester's win over Aston Villa.
It was the final game before the Covid-19 lockdown.
Pereira returned in January 2021 against Chelsea in a 13-minute cameo.
