Manchester United’s interim manager Ralf Rangnick is reportedly considering selling Marcus Rashford to Barcelona.
Rangnick is only in the early stages of a six-month contract with United before he is expected to move into a two-year consultancy role.
But the German is certainly making his presence felt, with wholescale changes already implemented.
The 63-year-old is bringing in Chris Armas and Sascha Lense to bolster his coaching staff and is also reportedly looking at the upcoming January transfer window and beyond.
Anthony Martial has made it clear that he wants to leave United in the mid-season window, but it is a different striker who Rangnick is contemplating selling.
Spanish outletEl Nacionalreports that Rangnick is focusing on the development of Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood and could therefore be tempted to let Rashford go.
Rashford has fierce competition for places at United, where Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes are near must-picks.
Barcelona therefore represent an ‘attractive project’, because Xavi would be willing to make Rashford the main man in attack.
Barca president Joan Laporta is a fan of the 24-year-old, who has previously been linked with the Catalan club.
Rashford is under contract until June 2023 and has contributed three goals and one assist for United this season in 11 appearances this season.
A potential stumbling block is the price, with El Nacional speculating that United would want north of £60million (€70m) to sell their academy graduate.

Barcelona are keen to rebuild their squad after Xavi took over from Ronald Koeman, but they are hindered by their current financial situation.
The Spanish giants made a loss of £404m (€481m) in the last financial year and have debts and future liabilities totalling a whopping £1.14bn (€1.35bn).
Xavi’s side are struggling at the moment and have dropped into the Europa League after being thrashed 3-0 by Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
They are also seventh in La Liga, a whopping 16 points behind leaders Real Madrid, having won just six of their 15 matches so far this season.
