Owen explains how Liverpool star "plays a different game to everyone else"
Michael Owen has heaped praise on Liverpool's Thiago who enjoyed a 45 minute cameo on Friday night.
The Spaniard was introduced at half-time in his side's 4-1 win over Aston Villa.
When he came on the game was finely poised despite their opponents fielding a starting XI with no first team experience due to a coronavirus outbreak.
Nevertheless Thiago set about dictating play as he often does.
The former Bayern Munich man has rarely been seen this season due to injuries but has often impressed when given the chance.
And Owen highlighted the ability of his passing as a point of difference between him and everyone else.
"This fella just makes me want to watch football 24 hours a day,’ the ex-Liverpool striker told BT Sport.
"The way he looks around, the way he gives it the eyes. There’s nobody in the Premier League, nobody that plays like him.
"He’s playing a different type of game than everyone else. His disguise on passes is unbelievable."
Thiago was introduced at the break with Jordan Henderson coming off.
Klopp quashed any rumours of an injury to his captain by explaining that the pair were always going to play a half each.
"No, no, Hendo and Thiago was clear before the game that we do it like this: 45, 45," he said.
"Absolutely no problem. And no, no reservations."
Liverpool scored three unanswered second-half goals to advance to the fourth round.
Thiago enjoyed a record setting debut when he came on at Chelsea back in September.
But he was injured in the Merseyside derby which resulted in a lengthy period on the sidelines.
Since joining from Bayern for £25m the 29-year-old has played just five times for the Merseyside outfit.
