Messi booed by PSG fans every time he gets ball as rivals slam ‘shameful’ ultras

Lionel Messi was given a frosty reception by PSG's ultras – sparking outrage from rival fans.

The 35-year-old returned to the starting XI for the Ligue 1 clash with AC Ajaccio having been suspended for the last two weeks for missing training, after he travelled to Saudi Arabia without the club's permission.

With it looking increasingly likely Messi will be departing at the end of his contract next month, their ultras have turned against him – and they made their feelings known with boos and whistles every time he touched the ball during the 5-0 victory.

Disrespecting football royalty didn't win them any supporters, with one person fuming: "They know nothing about football. They will go down in history as the worst club to ever play football. Ever."

Another slammed: "Wow many of these PSG fans (mostly ultras) are totally out of pocket booing and whistling at Messi. What a disgraceful fan base.

"They will regret it one day. They are lucky to be in the same building as Lionel. Can’t wait until he’s gone from this shameful team and happy elsewhere."

"Booing your best player. PSG are indeed a small club," commented a third, while a fourth joked: "The French don't deserve to retire at any age because of how they treat the King of football."

And a fifth argued: "The PSG fans booing Lionel Messi is the main reason why that club will never ever win the Champions League."

Messi has been linked with a return to former club Barcelona, a mega money move to join Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia, and a switch to the MLS with David Beckham's Inter Miami.
