  • Star Rashford could elect for shoulder surgery, but will do so after Euro 2020

Marcus Rashford has not played a pain-free game for Manchester United and England in the last two years, according to ESPN.

The forward has been nursing shoulder and foot problems since 2019 but remains determined to make himself available for Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the European Championships this summer.

Rashford has already amassed a whopping 264 appearances for Manchester United and despite suffering several injuries, he has only endured one extended period on the sidelines – missing 14 games due to a back injury.

According to the report, Rashford could decide to have surgery on his shoulder but will do so after the Euros, which starts in June, as he made himself available for selection for the Three Lions squad.

It is believed that his current foot injury was the reason he missed out on World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.

Despite not fully recovering from either issue, Rashford has played in all of United’s last nine Premier League matches. He has not played a full 90 minutes since their 1-0 win over West Ham on March 14.

Speaking on Rashford’s recovery, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: ‘Marcus, yeah, we’ve managed him and we’ve had to manage him for quite a while actually.

‘Of course last year with his back, then he had his shoulders, which he’s recovered really well from, and I feel he’s gone through the worst of this foot as well and he almost played a full game against Leeds.’

Since the beginning of the 2019-20 campaign, Rashford has made 93 appearances and scored 42 goals for the Red Devils.
