Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Sadio Mane will be in the squad for Bayern Munich’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Manchester City on Wednesday. 

The Senegal star was banned for one game for punching team-mate Leroy Sane as tempers flared in the dressing room between the two wingers after a 3-0 first leg defeat by City.

Sane was left with a bleeding lip but manager Tuchel insists the issue has been fully resolved.

‘Sadio Mane will be in the squad on Wednesday,’ he confirmed. He has already shown his reaction. It’s over, he’s apologised. 

‘It’s not an issue anymore. He trained with us in the week and he’ll be in training on Sunday.’

Bayern confirmed in a statement after the incident that he had been axed from the squad for the crucial Bundesliga clash with Hoffenheim on Saturday, which they drew 1-1.

The club also said Mane – who earns £17million a year – would receive an undisclosed fine.

‘Sadio Mane, 31, will not be in the FC Bayern squad for the home game against 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday,’ Bayern said. 

‘The reason is misconduct by Mane after FC Bayern’s Champions League game at Manchester City. In addition, Mane will receive a fine.’

Sane emerged with a bruised lip for Bayern Munich’s clash with Hoffenheim on Saturday 

Sane sported a bruised lip when Bayern Munich were held to a draw with Hoffenheim on Saturday. 

Bayern have a mountain to climb when they host in form City on Wednesday after the Premier League giants dominated the first leg.

Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland got the goals as City made a huge step towards the semi-finals.
