Man Utd transfer round-up: PSG ‘target’ Pogba as Lingard urged to leave

Manchester United are gearing up for an important week of Premier League action which could see them go top of the table.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are currently second behind Liverpool on goal difference but they have a game in hand over their rivals.

If they avoid defeat against Burnley on Tuesday, they will leapfrog Liverpool into the top spot ahead of a crunch clash with the Reds at Anfield on Sunday.

With the January transfer window open, United have been linked with a number of incomings and outgoings this month.

Here is all the latest news coming out of Old Trafford…

Faivre 'tracked' by United

Brest midfielder Romain Faivre is reportedly being tracked by United after impressing in Ligue 1 this season.

The 22-year-old made the move from Monaco to Brest over the summer, having featured for Monaco's B team in Championnat National 2 last season.

Faivre has been involved in seven goals in 17 appearances in the current campaign and, according to Le10 Sport, Faivre is on the radar of both United and Paris Saint-Germain.

Lingard urged to leave

Jesse Lingard has urged to leave the club by ex-United strikers Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov after his lack of gametime this season.

Speaking to Stadium Astro, Berbatov said: "Honestly, his time is up. He’s not playing. He had his chances to shine, to prove how good he is, how good he can be. It shows that, for the moment, Ole does not trust him enough to play him and honestly he doesn’t have anywhere to play in the team right now.

"So when you’ve been so long in one team and, coming to 28 [years old], you have to look back and say, 'Did I achieve enough? Am I happy with what I’ve done here? Is my time up?' So I think he need to move, he needs to go somewhere else to play."

Owen echoed Berbatov's comments, adding: "He [Lingard] came through the ranks when me and Berba were in the team, we saw his development, and he’s got to a stage now where he’s a bit older and should be playing regularly in a team now at his age.

"If it was me, and I’d had all that time at Manchester United, I’d probably go and try to play a bit more regularly."

PSG target Pogba

New PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly made Paul Pogba his top transfer target, after the midfielder's agent Mino Raiola publicly revealed that the player wanted to leave Old Trafford.

Pogba has been heavily linked with Real Madrid and Juventus but, according to the Daily Star, PSG are interested in signing him.

The report claims that United are ready to sell Pogba at the end of the season and Pochettino is said to believe he can rebuild PSG around him.
