Man Utd takeover ‘hours away’ from completion as Sheikh Jassim deal readied
Mason Mount set for Man Utd move
Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al-Thani’s takeover of Manchester United is ‘hours away’, bold reports in Qatar claim. It is reported that Sheikh Jassim will soon be confirmed as the new owner of the Premier League outfit after the final documents are signed.
A lengthy, drawn-out takeover process could soon be set to end. The Glazers initially put the Red Devils up for sale in November 2022 and placed the Raine Group bank in charge of receiving bids.
Qatari royal Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe have been the main two bidders jostling for control of United. Ratcliffe’s bid was made through his petrochemicals giant INEOS, which also has a majority stake in French club Nice.
Final offers were made at the start of June, with it initially reported that Ratcliffe had the upper hand in negotiations with Raine and the Glazer family. However, reports in Qatar have since insisted that Sheikh Jassim has been the bidder preferred by those overseeing the process.

Qatari publications now claim that Sheikh Jassim is just ‘hours away’ from completing his takeover. Al Raya report that the takeover could be completed in a matter of hours, with the signing of key documents the last remaining obstacle.
It has been suggested that the issue holding up the takeover process has been some of the Glazer family wishing to remain at the club. It was claimed that Ratcliffe’s bid included a deal for two of the siblings to stay as minority shareholders.
United icon Rio Ferdinand, who has offered frequent updates to fans based on conversations with club staff, said on his Vibe with Five podcast: “I had some news from a very good source, my great source at Manchester United.

“Things were running quite smoothly and it was going down the right path but then obviously [it hit a bump]. I think the big issue is: when you’re dealing with a group of people rather than an individual, it makes things very complex and difficult at times.
“You’re not dealing with one individual with the Glazers – I think Jim Ratcliffe came out and said it. That’s been the issue behind the scenes, I didn’t want to come out and say it, but you’re dealing with siblings in the Glazer family who are there to make a collective decision.
“I don’t think one person can just make a decision on their own, so therefore that makes it very difficult to say yes immediately just like that [clicks fingers]. It’s a process that they have to go through.”
