Manchester United are interested in three other forwards as well as Joao Felix and Cody Gakpo, according to reports. The Red Devils want a new attacker to arrive in January following the bitter departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. However, a new No 9 isn’t guaranteed to arrive despite Erik ten Hag’s desire to reinforce his squad.

Manchester United saw Ronaldo leave last month, with the 37-year-old burning his bridges with everyone at the club following a bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

And, in the time since, Felix and Gakpo have both been strongly linked with moves to Old Trafford.

Felix was of interest to United back in the summer transfer window of 2019, when it became clear he’d be leaving Benfica behind, but Atletico won the race for him on that occasion.

Gakpo was in United’s sights earlier in the year yet, while he was keen to leave PSV Eindhoven for Old Trafford, Antony touched down instead.

According to ESPN, there are three other forwards in the club’s sights at the current moment in time.

Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag is going to sign his own Haaland

One of them is Goncalo Ramos, the Benfica star who shot to prominence at the World Cup with a breathtaking hat-trick for Portugal against Switzerland.

Ramos won’t come cheap, with Benfica believing he can fetch a huge fee, which means it’s hard to see him making the move to United in the New Year.

Another attacker in their sights is AC Milan’s Rafael Leao.

While the Portugal international would be an exciting signing for United to make, however, it’s hard to see the Serie A giants letting him go midway through the season.

And Alvaro Morata is also on the club’s radar, too, as they look to fill the void left behind by Ronaldo’s departure.

Three strikers Ten Hag prefers to Felix for Man Utd

It isn’t the first time United have eyed the Spain international, who found the net three times for Spain at the World Cup in Qatar.

United were expected to sign Morata from Real Madrid back in the summer transfer window of 2017, when Jose Mourinho ruled the roost.

The striker even dyed his hair red in preparation for a blockbuster switch but, in the end, was left red-faced with United moving for Romelu Lukaku instead.

Morata would proceed to join rivals Chelsea, where he endured a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge.

But having rebuilt his career at Atletico and Juventus in the years since, United are still keeping tabs on the 30-year-old as they look to bring the glory days back.

Speaking shortly after he moved to Chelsea, Morata confirmed United had made an offer for him.

He said at the time: “I had various offers this summer, not only Chelsea and Manchester United but also from different leagues. It was a good situation for me.

“The most important and best conversation I had was with Conte, he wanted me to come here.

“At the start of the summer, I didn’t know that Chelsea were interested in me.

“I thought they were in for a different player, maybe Lukaku or maybe someone else, I don’t know. I didn’t think the option of Chelsea was open.

“But I spoke with Conte several times – and not only this summer. I felt in debt to him. He signed me for Juventus but left very quickly to manage Italy.

“I always wanted to play for him after that. It was only two months with him but it felt like I’d known him forever.

“When I knew he wanted me this summer, I didn’t think twice. I did everything I could to make the move happen.”
