Tuchel reveals promise to Roman Abramovich after Chelsea win Champions League

Thomas Tuchel has revealed that he is in line to sign a new contract with Chelsea and has told Roman Abramovich he is ‘hungry’ to win more trophies following their Champions League success this season.

Chelsea sealed a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in Saturday’s final in Porto with Kai Havertz’s first-half goal enough to secure the win for Tuchel’s side.

Chelsea owner Abramovich was at the Estadio do Dragao to watch his team win the Champions League for the second time during his reign.

The final was the first time Tuchel has met and spoken to Abramovich since he replaced Frank Lampard as manager in January.

And Tuchel has told Chelsea’s owner that he is intent on winning more silverware at Stamford Bridge.

‘I’m not quite sure if I can even speak out this, I’m not even 100 per cent sure but maybe I have already a new contract with that win, my manager said something but I do not know, so let’s check this first,’ Tuchel said after Chelsea’s win over Manchester City.

‘I spoke to the owner right now on the pitch, I think it was the best moment for the first meeting, or the worst because from now on it can only get worse!

‘We will speak tomorrow, we will speak later, I’m looking forward to this, I can assure him I will stay hungry, that I want the next title and I feel absolutely happy. I feel as a part of a really ambitious club, a strong part of a strong group that suits my belief and my passion about football in the moment perfectly.

‘So my desire is to go for more victories, my desire is grow as a coach, my desire is to push the group on the first day of the next season to the limit.

‘We have work to do to close the gap, this is what I’m all about.

‘It will be nice to meet him a bit closer. We’re in contact but not personal but we’re in contact and he knows what’s going on from me directly, now it’s nice to meet him.’
