Man Utd fans already welcoming Harry Kane to Old Trafford after Spurs’ UCL exit

Manchester United fans are already rolling out the red carpet for Harry Kane after Tottenham Hotspur were knocked out of the Champions League.

Antonio Conte’s side limped out of Europe’s elite competition after the Serie A winners protected their 1-0 aggregate lead from the first leg by holding the north Londoners to a 0-0 draw. Despite the fact they were only trailing by one goal, Spurs only recorded two shots on target all game as their problems in the creativity department resurfaced.

While Tottenham are currently on course to finish in the top four, barring a miraculous turnaround in the Premier League, it will be another campaign without a trophy for the club and for Kane. And in the wake of another European disappointment and recent links connecting Kane with a move to Old Trafford, United fans believe a move for the England captain may be on the cards.

“Harry Kane welcome to Man Utd,” one very confident United fan wrote on social media. “Suspect people will disagree as they just got battered 7-0 at the weekend, but if you’re Kane then a move to Man Utd in the summer is a no brainer.

“Ten Hag is building something decent there & they need a quality centre forward – Spurs aren’t winning anything anytime soon.” Another dispirited Tottenham fan also added, “I think it’s likely Harry Kane will leave for Man Utd, who Spurs may be battling for 4th place. Be interesting to see how that all pans out”

Meanwhile, a more blunt football fan added, “If I was Harry Kane I'd be pushing for that Man Utd move.” Kane has fired Tottenham to a Champions League final and two League Cup Finals, but he is yet to get his hands on any silverware.

He has plundered many individual honours with the club and recently became the club’s record goalscorer, but none of these has resulted in any winners’ medals. Kane has previously indicated his desire for trophies in the summer of 2021, when he was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City.

That ship has now sailed with Erling Haaland at the tip of their frontline, but a switch to the Cityzens’ fierce rivals United could be possible. United are currently making do with loan signing Wout Weghorst but appear to be after a new centre-forward to supplement and take the goal-scoring burden of Marcus Rashford.

United have also been linked with a move for imperious Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, who has helped himself to 21 goals in 26 appearances this season.
