Liverpool eye £124m trio, Tottenham face Newcastle battle, Man Utd loan deal

Mikel Arteta believes Arsenal should have won against Fulham.

Deadline day is less than a week away and there is still plenty of meat on the bones for the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool and Manchester United. Managers and sporting directors across the Premier League are running out of time to plug any remaining gaps in their squad before knuckling down until January.

Spurs’ promising start under Ange Postecoglou continued on Saturday with a comfortable win over Bournemouth. The opportunity to work with the Aussie coach could therefore carry some weight if the Londoners come calling, although offloading players is still believed to be one of the club’s top priorities.

Liverpool stayed true to form and conducted most of their transfer business early in the summer. But Jurgen Klopp could be forced into an uncomfortable situation if star man Mohamed Salah pushes through a blockbuster move to Saudi Arabia.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are on the hunt for a new left-back to cover Luke Shaw’s latest injury blow. With all this to delve into and more, follow Express Sport‘s live transfer updates below…

Man Utd loan deal

Manchester United have held talks with Chelsea about signing Marc Cucurella on loan, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Blues are willing to do business, but only if they are satisfied with the loan fee and salary coverage that United are able to provide.

Both financial elements could be steep, given that Cucurella cost a whopping £60million and commands hefty wages at Stamford Bridge.

Sergio Reguilon and Ryan Bertrand are also understood to be on the Red Devils’ shortlist, with Erik ten Hag caught short at left-back since Luke Shaw’s injury.

Tottenham face Newcastle scrap

Tottenham and Newcastle United are poised to battle it out for PSV Eindhoven star Johan Bakayoko, according to reports.

The 20-year-old winger is already putting up impressive numbers in the Netherlands.

Burnley tried and failed to bring him to Turf Moor earlier this summer.

Now, Spurs and the Magpies look set to try their luck with a late transfer swoop that could provide Ange Postecoglou or Eddie Howe with greater depth out wide.

Liverpool eye £124m trio

Liverpool are reportedly working on crisis plans in case Mohamed Salah joins Al-Ittihad over the final few days of the transfer window.

Bayern Munich star Leroy Sane, Juventus ace Federico Chiesa and Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi are the three key names being considered by the Reds, according to Calciomercato.

With a combined market value of £124million, Jurgen Klopp and co are only chasing the best of the best to replace the prolific Egyptian.
