Man Utd could be about to sign another ‘Best’ after Sheikh Jassim approval

LGBTQ+ activist concerned by potential Qatari takeover of Man Utd

Over the weekend, it was claimed Sheikh Jassim had informed the Glazers he was happy for them to make Manchester United transfer plans while the takeover situation continues to rumble on. And Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is one player on the club’s radar, having dazzled for Napoli this season. The 22-year-old has been likened to George Best as a result of his fine performances and a huge move this summer could be on the cards…

United plan on making several signings this summer as they look to challenge Manchester City for Premier League title supremacy going forward.

They’re keen on landing a new striker, with Harry Kane, Dusan Vlahovic and Victor Osimhen all in their sights.

In midfield, United have interest in the likes of Frenkie de Jong and Adrien Rabiot – who were both pursued by the club last year.

And it’s even emerged that, despite Marcus Rashford’s sensational performances this term, the Red Devils want another left winger as well.

Kvaratskhelia has been mentioned as a potential target, with the 22-year-old destroying Serie A for Napoli this season.

Man Utd transfers: Ten Hag wants another Pogba and it makes sense

Few had heard of the Georgia international when he moved to the Diego Maradona Stadium from Dinamo Batumi back in the summer.

Yet fast-forward to now and the 22-year-old has become a household name in Italy due to his mesmeric performances.

The forward was key to Napoli winning Serie A, scoring 12 goals and registering 13 assists from 31 league matches.

And he also managed six goal involvements from nine Champions League matches, too, during his side’s run in the competition.

So good has Kvaratskhelia been that, on a few of occasions, he’s been likened to United legend Best.

Speaking in March, former Italy star Christian Vieri said of the player: “If he goes to Manchester United, the days of George Best will return. Kvaratskhelia is the same.”

Rino Gattuso has also said: “It’s like seeing Best again.

“He does incredible things, with incredible nimbleness. It’s a team that excites me a lot, that plays dream football.”

And Italian agent Oscar Damiani has also previously stated that Kvaratskhelia is already better than the United icon.

“George Best was a fantastic footballer who made history for his national team,” he said.

“However, I feel Kvaratskhelia has something more. Perhaps, the Georgian is more physical.

“I could use a mean joke, hopefully, he [Kvara] doesn’t have the same mindset.”

Napoli won’t want to lose Kvaratskhelia as they look to win Serie A for a second season in a row.

There’s already been talk that a deal for the forward could exceed the £100million mark.

Should United pay that, the Georgia international would become the most-expensive signing in the club’s entire history.

But the 22-year-old, given his displays and praise he’s earned along the way, may be worth every penny in the event of any potential transfer.

The Red Devils also have interest in two other Napoli players.

Osimhen would bring a potency to their frontline that has been lacking this season, with the Nigeria international establishing himself as one of the best players in world football.

And defender Kim Min-jae is though to be a United target as well.
