Liverpool youngster threw up during one of Klopp’s first sessions

Former Liverpool youngster Joao Teixeira threw up during one of Jurgen Klopp's first training sessions.

The German manager is well-known for his relentless pressing and certainly works his players hard in training. The Reds are now reaping the rewards of years of hard work, fighting to pick up all four trophies at the business end of the season.

However, it hasn't been an easy ride for the Liverpool players, with one youngster feeling the intensity early on. Joao Teixeira, now of Famalicao, was sick at the side of the pitch during one of Klopp's first training sessions. In an interview with The Athletic, James Milner said: "In one of our first training sessions, one of the younger guys — I think it was Joao Teixeira — was throwing up on the side of the pitch.

"The levels just went through the roof. We were doing sessions on the day of a game and there were hamstring injuries everywhere. Levels again."

Liverpool face Chelsea in this afternoon's FA Cup final, in what will be a repeat of the Carabao Cup final. The Reds edged past Thomas Tuchel's side on penalties to pick up their first piece of silverware this season, but they could end up with up to three more.

Fans will be booking flights to Paris for the Champions League final at the end of the month, where Real Madrid will be Liverpool's opponents in a repeat of the 2018 final. The Premier League title is also still up for grabs, with Manchester City just three points in front with two games to go.

Speaking on the training Liverpool have had to do to get to this point, Milner added: "A lot of the training we do is different to anything I’ve seen. There are two or three balls going in at once during shooting drills, so you have your shot and the next thing you’re reacting to the other ball.

"Everything is about staying in the moment. It conditions you to a game where if you lose the ball you’re not disappointed or moan, ‘Why didn’t you run there?’. It’s ‘Go and get it back immediately’. That intensity and relentlessness was the first thing he had to get into us."

The high fitness levels will certainly have come in handy with the Reds playing the maximum amount of games possible this season. Jurgen Klopp is yet to win the FA Cup, and with Liverpool's last success in the competition coming in 2006, the Reds will be hoping they can leave Wembley with yet another piece of silverware.
