Liverpool have their work cut out in trying to entice West Ham into the sale of Jarrod Bowen. The forward has reportedly been identified by Jurgen Klopp as potential cover for the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, who are expected to jet off to the African Cup of Nations in January.

Bowen has made an impressive start to life in the Premier League following his arrival from Hull City in January 2020.

He remains a key part of David Moyes’ plans as the Irons prepare to embark on an adventure in the Europa League next season.

Liverpool are unlikely to blow West Ham out of the water with a bid so if they’re serious about landing Bowen, they may have to think outside of the box.

With that in mind, Express Sport looks at three players Liverpool could hypothetically offer West Ham in part-exchange for Bowen…

Nat Phillips

The obvious option given West Ham are said to be interested in signing the player.

Phillips was immense on his Premier League debut against the Hammers at Anfield last year and his development has clearly made an impression on the east London club.

He could be available too this summer with Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip all returning to fitness and Ibrahima Konate also now signed.

The centre-back is the perfect potential sweetener and is now of a respectable value following his heroics last season.

Divock Origi

West Ham are still in the market for a new striker and Origi could be a suitable candidate for the job.

He’s now ready to play regularly and is fast-approaching his peak at 26.

Origi is still valued at around £20m and including him in the deal for Bowen could help twist West Ham’s arm.

The Belgian is vastly experienced and would not demand enormous wages, while also improving the club’s attacking options.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Shaqiri would be a like-for-like replacement for Bowen given he is a left-footed right-winger.

Like the West Ham man, Shaqiri loves to dance inside, create and score although his numbers have dried up in the past two seasons.

While he is ageing quickly, nobody can doubt Shaqiri’s pedigree.

He has already proven himself in the Premier League on two occasions with Stoke and the Reds, while he is an established international player.

If Liverpool were also willing to include a small fee in the proposal, the deal could make sense for all parties…
