Liverpool interested in Bowen, Malen close to Dortmund and Barella move unlikely

Liverpool secured the top four on the final day of the season after a difficult campaign plagued by injury troubles to various key players.

It was a busy season as they aimed to defend their Premier League crown, but a mid-season slump meant that securing Champions League football would have to be the aim, and they did that by piping Leicester to a place.

Now, they want to rebuild, and after seeing a key player in the form of Georginio Wijnaldum leave, they’re keen to add a midfielder.

They’ve already signed Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig and will want to strengthen in other positions as well.

Daily Star Sport has taken a look at Liverpool’s latest transfer news below.

Bowen move possible

Liverpool are interested in West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen, who is on a shortlist with other potential options, according to The Athletic’s James Pearce.

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly a fan and has been keeping tabs on his progress, with a move for the 24-year-old considered.

However, if an offer for the former Hull City player isn’t made, the Reds will keep an eye on his rise as they have him high on their list.

No chance of Barella

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are keen on a midfielder, but chances of a move for Inter and Italy star Nicolo Barella are slim.

“Liverpool will go for a midfielder but not immediately, so it will take some days maybe. Barella is not a real target, there's no chance,” Romano said on his podcast, Here We Go.

The Reds will be keen to add to their options having lost Georginio Wijnaldum after the expiry of his contract at the end of last season.

Malen close to Dortmund

Liverpool may miss out on target Donyell Malen, with Borussia Dortmund in close contact with his agent Mino Raiola over a transfer to the German Bundesliga.

That comes from Fabrizio Romano, who says that Malen was one of the club’s primary targets after selling Jadon Sancho to Manchester United.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Malen had plenty of admirers at Liverpool and the Reds were looking at a move for PSV Eindhoven’s Dutch star.
