Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is delighted with the club’s young stars after contributing to a dominant 3-0 win over Norwich City in the Carabao Cup third round. Klopp has fired a warning to his first-team players, suggesting the starlets at Carrow Road are ready for more opportunities.

Liverpool handed debuts to teenage trio Conor Bradley, Kaide Gordon and Tyler Morton on a successful night in Norwich.

Takumi Minamino opened the scoring after just four minutes, latching onto a loose ball inside the area.

22-year-old goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher denied Christos Tzolis an equaliser from the penalty spot on the brink of half-time.

Five minutes into the second half, Konstantinos Tsimikas found Divock Origi with a pinpoint cross, and the Belgian striker headed Liverpool into a 2-0 lead.

Minimano rounded off the scoring 10 minutes from full-time after being found by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

After full-time, Klopp paid tribute to the young debutants who helped Liverpool reach the last 16, stating they’re good enough for more first-team opportunities.

He said: “[You get opportunities] only when they are good enough, and they are good enough. That’s it.

“You saw Connor Bradley tonight. The first Northern Irish player to play [for Liverpool] since 1954 sounds too long, but [it’s a] great thing, and he played a super game.

“Kaide Gordon [is] ready for these moments; he’s just ready. 16, he had really good moments. But what impressed me was [his] physicality; he can go on for 95 minutes.

“Tyler [Morton] gave us the opportunity to connect again because he played simple, passed in the right spaces, defended in the right spaces.

“So that was a really good game of all these three boys; they play because they are good enough.”

Klopp also reserved deserved praise for Kelleher, Minamino and Oxlade-Chamberlain after their roles in the triumph.

“Caoimhin is a top goalkeeper, [the performance was] really important for him. His international coach can see he’s really good.

“Taki [Minamino] played a really top game. We brought him into the midfield second half because it was in a good moment.

“He dropped into the right spaces was involved in all the passes with Tyler [Morton], Ox could then use his speed.

“And top goals from Taki – really smart, really aware and the second I don’t even know how the ball went in.

“[It was a] top cross from Kostas [Tsimikas] and a super header. I’m really happy for the boys; it was important for them.”
