ITV World Cup commentator John Hartson was told to “sit down” by his colleague Jon Champion as the duo covered Germany’s final group stage clash with Costa Rica. In the first half the Welshman was disappointed with the lack of chances, when he made a suggestion to join with the crowd in Qatar.

The spectators were performing a Mexican wave, commonly used when a game has a lack of action, and Hartson suggested to Champion that they should join in. His fellow commentator decided that wasn’t a good idea however, and made a light-hearted jibe at Hartson.

“John, I had you down as more professional than that,” Champion replied to Hartson. “Sit down.”
